Lumut Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd (LUNAS) is pleased to have hosted Minister of Defence Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and his delegation in Lumut on June 4th, 2024. During the visit, the Minister of Defence had the opportunity to witness the progress of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) construction by going onboard LCS1 and receiving a briefing on its development.
Following the tour, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin held a press conference near the shipyard’s jetty, highlighting that the successful downslip of LCS1 on May 23rd, 2024, was in accordance with the contract schedule. He emphasized the importance of this milestone in ensuring that the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) receives the ships starting from 2026.
Throughout the session, the Defence Minister was accompanied by Defence Ministry Chief Secretary Datuk Seri Isham Ishak, LUNAS’s CEO Ir. Azhar Jumaat together with LUNAS Board of Directors members Admiral Tan Sri Mohd Reza Mohd Sany (Retired), Dato’ Andri Aidham Dato’ Ahmad Badri, Mr Ahmad Zaki Abd Malik and Mr Mohammad Abiddin Abd Rahman. Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Ayob, the Chief of Navy, was also present.
