Minister of Defense Visit to LUNAS

Lumut Naval Shipyard (LUNAS) received a visit from the Minister of Defense, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, and his delegation from the Ministry of Defence on 11 March 2025 to assess the latest developments of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) project.

The delegation was accompanied by the Chief of Defense Force, General Datuk Hj Mohd Nizam Hj Jaffar; Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defense, Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali; Chief of Navy, Admiral Datuk Dr. Zulhelmy Ithnain; and senior Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) leadership.

The visit began with a welcoming speech by LUNAS Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ir. Azhar Jumaat, followed by a project briefing from LCS Project Director, Captain (R) Rosnizam Che Puteh, and RMN LCS Project Director, First Admiral Ir. Ts. Franklin Jayasekhar Joseph. The delegation then observed the ongoing construction of the five LCS vessels at the shipyard, ensuring that progress remains on schedule.

This visit reaffirms LUNAS’s commitment to delivering the LCS project with efficiency and precision, strengthening Malaysia’s maritime defence capabilities while upholding its vision of defining excellence.
