The signing of the Downslip Safety Checklist on May 21st 2024 was an important part of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) project to ensure that the project is adherence to rigorous safety standards.
The session was witnessed by Lumut Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd (LUNAS) CEO, Ir. Azhar Jumaat and was attended by key attendees included LUNAS Director of LCS Project Capt. Rosnizam Che Puteh (Retired), Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) LCS Program Director First Admiral Ir. Ts. Franklin Jeyasekhar Joseph, Bureau Veritas (BV) representative Mr. Fazmizal Ishak, and Naval Group (NG) Design Authority representative Mr. Didier Nadaud. This highlighted the collaborative effort between various parties working together to achieve a common goal and prioritized safety.
The checklist focused on mitigating potential risks, such as water ingress, flooding or other unforeseen incidents, ensuring the ship’s safety during upcoming phases of the project milestones. The signing strengthen’s the project’s credibility and sets a standard for safety practices within the industry, ensuring that safety remains paramount in all aspects of the project’s execution.
The downslip of LCS1 was successfully performed on May 23rd 2024.
